When I come to inspect your car, I'll write out a detailed list of all the parts that need attention or replacement, and I'll mark them with specific part numbers from the manufacturer. If you see something in that list that doesn't make sense, I'll explain exactly why that part needs changing - like if I have to replace the brake caliper because it's leaking, or if a timing belt is broken and needs replacing. No vague 'services' or hidden costs - just specific items with exact part numbers so you can double-check what I'm saying against your car manual.
If I discover something that wasn't mentioned during our initial inspection, I'll stop work immediately and contact you to explain what's wrong and why we need to do extra work. I don't charge for additional repairs unless you specifically ask me to proceed after reviewing the new problem - and even then, I'll give you a fresh detailed quote showing exactly what's different from the original estimate. If you don't want to pay for it, I'll refund your original payment.
I provide a detailed itemized breakdown showing both parts and labor costs for every job. For example, if I'm doing an oil change, I'll show you exactly what grade of oil I'm using (like 5W-30 synthetic), the specific quantity, how many minutes it takes to do the job properly, and the exact price for each component - not just some vague 'service charge' or 'labor fee' that could be anything. I'll give you at least 24 hours to think about any major repairs. If you don't want to go ahead, I'll refund your full payment and return your car to you in the same condition it was when you brought it in. I also provide simple explanations of what could happen if you don't fix a problem - like how a broken brake pad can damage your brake disc or how ignoring an oil leak can lead to engine failure - so you understand the real risks involved, not just what I recommend.
